Photographer’s Note
I met this woman doing her laundry in the street and asked to take her picture. (There was no way I could have done it discreetly). To my surprise she immediately agreed, and to my great pleasure she just went on with her job without posing "properly", just casting an amused glance at me. Thank you for that, unknown lady.
This is from Tezpur, a charming little Assamese town on the banks of the Brahmaputra river.

Hi Gert, a colorful, genuine shot of ordinary daily life, not sure she's smiling actually but her expression is interesting. I like how you composed in this angle, with the efficient inclusion of the second woman, or girl, in good light management, cheers :) Daniel

Hallo Gert!
Again an impressive photo. What an effort to do laundry in contrast to our "pressing the button of washing machine". I like the grand attitude of this woman in these not very pleasing surroundings. Thank you for showing this!
Greetings from humid and cold Germany - have a nice Sunday!

Gert: I'll give you this - you had some bravery to walk into that laundress's yard - details abound here. regads, c

Hej Gert,
A very enjoyable picture of daily life! I am always surprised by all these fantastic colours all Indian Women seem to favour, so very far away from all western fashion trends.

hello gert,
these are the best kind of shots that include people, where they make eye contact with you but yet do not pose. Great sense of place & good connection. Nice light. Plenty of detail.

Hello Gert,
I, too, am amazed at the Indian colours! they are so bright. Maybe it is so because it is a hot sunny country?
Interesting portrait, as always! and there are so many details... a true open glimpse of a different life, another lifestyle! Such photos can teach us a lot if we bother to think...
Kind regards,
Elena

Hi Gert,
They like to be photographed. Sometimes they just asked for it and they could give you the baby that you can photo with it - I remember such scenes. It is incredible how they do their laundry and it look clean after the process. Nice composition, interesting daily life scene, so exotic to us.

Hello Gert
A great daily life scene of a woman doing a good job in harsh conditions. She knows no other way - such are our chances in life. Very colourful and detailed. Tfs, Marlene

Not only did she looked at the camera, she smiled too. I like the invasion into her "workplace"

Wonderful daily life shot, even though she is kind of camera shy. I like the natural setting. This also take me back in time where I had to help my sister pumped the water and so she can wash and I hang them to dry. Don't have to go to the gym to excercise. Thanks Gert, have a wonderful day.
