Photographer’s Note
Hutongs are alleyways and courtyards that formed common living spaces and neighbourhoods. They have been destroyed for many years to make room for newer buildings and roads.
Hutongs, to me, represent unique architecture. Thankfully many are designated as protected areas to preserve cultural history. While I visited Beijing, there was construction on almost every hutong I entered; not destruction, but renovation.

Hi Melissa!!
I remember well our visit to Hutongs, guided for sure, and the hundreds narrow streets like this one...are really an unique space, almost another world inside Beijing, an interesting place where time seems to have stopped...
And I like your capture and its composition that shows really well the meaning of the place.
Congratulations...
Have a nice day ... and see you on Beijing!!
