Surrounded by Ghosts Photo

Photographer’s Note

This lady standing by the lampost, had obviously a rendez vouz, an appointment with an "out of time" man. While she was waiting, some ghosts kept her good company.

Photo taken at Syntagmatos square, the central square of Nafpio, the meeting point of the town. In the background, you can see the old Venetian Arsenal, an imposing building that nowadays houses the very important Archaeological Museum.

Πρώτα το ασπρόμαυρο σκηνικό της πλατείας συντάγματος είναι πολύ όμορφο με το μουσείο στο βάθος και κυρίαρχο στοιχείο το φανοστάτη και μετά η ιδέα της της παρουσίασης του πλήθους σαν σκιές, με την μεγάλη ταχύτητα και το θέμα σου ακίνητο να ξεχωρίζει, είναι άψογα εκτελεσμένη.

Ahah...playing around...the ghostly shadows or are they in transition...impressive graphic appeal Milas..good saturation of colours as usual..the lamppost seems to pop out a bit...maybe an adjustment in PP could help

What I most like about your way of photographing is the great ability to switch from one subject to another with great ease and skill. This image has a strong impact for the particularity of the scene, with all the figure-ghost running around the woman who awaits him man.

Μία αναμονή που πολλές φορές είναι επί ματαίω! Είναι η στιγμή που και το δευτερόλεπτο χτυπά κάθε ώρα!! και όταν είναι η αναμονή μεγάλη και οι σκιές χορεύουν σαν φαντάσματα και οι σκέψεις γίνονται ασπρό-μαύρες,,και η καρδιά χτυπά σαν να σπάει πυρίτιδα...

Bonsoir Hercules,

C'est tout d'abord une photo très soignée et travaillée dans sa composition.
Les deux arches et le lampadaires coupent la photo en deux parties horizontales et verticales asymétriques et complémentaires.
Enfin le choix du N&B, un peu sépia, est excellent pour mettre en valeurs ces fantômes qui encerclent la femme.
C'est une grande et belle photo, une belle scène bien saisie.

I cant't understand if it is a night photo which seems taken by day or a day photo which looks like a night one! From the time of exposure I should say the first is the case. Well the effect is outstanding, there should have been a strong light which illuminated the facade of the Venetian arsenal. Very nice atmosphere and an excellent definition for night photo. The composition is very well balanced with the two arches matching the street lamp and the girl to the left.

really an artwork you have here, love the sepia tone, works great here. As well as the exposure, 8 sec. and the lady wasn´t moving at all, which was of course great for the image, all the other people are blurred out and do seem like ghosts. This is high class work Hercules, as usual!

Strange effect! I hope I will not see this scene in real, not even in Phnom Penh's S-21 prison. Too many ghosts in this world, so we dont need them around.

But I see you have a great job in presenting this mood of the square with a balanced composition. Good work.

Esta imagen parece sacada de un sueño. Tiene un efecto fantasmagórico muy extraño. Me pregunto tambien ¿Cómo hiciste para que las farolas te quedaran asi?
