Hey Josh
Another great face from Shaxi.
Very sharp and excellent focus on the eyes.
Let me know how the walk in the hills goes!
Anyhow, well done.

You caught a great expression here Josh - he has quite a remarkable face.
Perhaps it's a bit too tightly-framed for my taste. At the least I'd prefer it if his hat was fully in-frame, and with a bit more space around him to give him room to breathe, as it were.
On the whole though, this is an excellent portrait. It would work very well in B&W too.
Cheers,
Ben

Josh,
I know how tight framed portraits are popular, especially here on TE. But to me, although I admit they might have more punch esthetically, I think they're meaningless than really well contxtualized pictures. I think you were doing this very well so far. You were shooting a very nice journalistic style of photography...very Nat Geo like. But not this time...
However, I must admit that he has an interesting face, well worth showing!
Your post might lack a bit of contrast (that happens sometimes when posting on TE), but the workshop is totally horrific:(

Hello Josh. Face from China. A natural and at the same time nevertheless strong Portrait. One can read in this friendly face as in a book. The photo pleases me well. Best regards, Wolfgang… and have a nice weekend.
