Photographer’s Note

Its all the election fever in the world's biggest democracy, India. When people vote, this is the mark the polling officer puts on the left index finger of voter, to make sure he/she does not vote again. Mark is drawn a bit on the skin and a bit on nail as well. Usually it is straight, but I think the poling officer's brush shook a bit for this person.

This is a special ink, which remains for couple of weeks and slowly goes off.

I read an interesting article in the news paper today. In Delhi there are many shops who are offering Democracy discount. Meaning, people have to show this mark on their left finger to get 10% discount. This is a type encouraging voting as well. :-)
