Cette petite ville a été choisie pour être le siège administratif du Parc National des Cévennes. Au pied des escarpements dolomitiques du Causse Méjean, Florac est surplombé par l'impressionnant rocher de Rochefort, au pied duquel jaillit une des principales résurgences de la région: la source du Pêcher.

This town was chosen to be the administrative siege of the National park of Cevennes. At feet of the steep slopes dolomitiques of the Limestone plateau Méjean, Florac is overhung by the impressive rock of Rochefort, at feet of which, flows one of the main resurgences of the region: the spring of Pêcher.

Very well composed, with the cnadles at focus, and the prayer out of focus but very well visible.

Hello Didier.

An interesting composition, using shallow depth of field and a pattern of perpendicular lines with subtle shadows and lighting. I like the one human figure placed to the side, still sharp enough to be a focal point. I think the photo is well cropped, and provides a strong perspective beyond the sharply defined candles. There is a powerful atmosphere of contemplation. I wonder what it would be like in colour...

J'aime beaucoup l'ambiance de cette photo. On retrouve l'atmosphère mystique des églises, et la contemplation.
Excellent choix de profondeur de champ pour laisser la femme qui prie dans le flou et ainsi respecter ce moment intime.
Le traitement en N&B donne un côté intemporel à cette composition, et renforce le sujet. Très bien pensé.
Une photo pleine d'émotion, sensible... Merci de cet excellent travail.

Hello Didier,

Une image qui raconte une histoire malgré le flou volontaire. On a l'impression que cette personne prie pour se faire pardonner un pécher. Un rapport peut-être avec la source du Pêcher.

A very touching picture and very decent present in b&w. An image with a message were also the woman in the bench is making a part of the composition and perfectly placed oof.......perfect use of the f2.0...well thought.

Salut Didier,
une belle profondeur de champ (merci le 50mm f/1.8!) qui met en avant les bougies et évoque le reste qui pourtant couvre la majeure partie de la photo. Un choix judicieux je trouve. Le N&B était aussi un bon choix. J'aime beaucoup.

il y a ici une très belle ambiance de recueillement,on a presque envie de ne pas faire de bruit pour ne pas déranger le personnage!Le flou et la succession de bancs donnent une excellente profondeur,et les cierges allumés et très nets font un superbe contraste!Superbe!

I scroll down from the top and saw the blur image of girl sitting on the bench and wished to say this is BLUR, but then I scroll down and saw the sharpness of the candle sticks!

Very good example of depth and bokeh effect in this shot.

The B&W tone is well done.

love this photo. strong geometry of the lines contrast very well with the soft silhouette of the woman in the background and fragile shapes of the candles. smart use of B&W, the colours in this case would be distractive. great shot, my compliments.

utiliser un 50 c'est une bonne idée, on, enfin je ne le fais pas car j'en ai pas mais peut être que je vais l'acheter, un N&B avec une courte profondeur pour donner un coté mystique vu qu'on est dans une église,et le flou du paroissien qui prie une idée qu'il fallait avoir

Hello Didier,
very clever approach and good use of the vertical format to include the candles, the prayer and the figure of the saint on background.
Also, I like the way you put the focus on the candles leaving the rest as a nice and soft bokeh.

La succession de bancs produit une forte sensation de perspective et malgré le flou, qui va très bien ici, la personne aide l'aire méditatif et divine de la scène. J'aime beaucoup les nuances de sobres et lumières.
La compo est simple, mais très saisi.

Hi Didier,
This one has always been a favourite subject for photographers. I even have two candle photos from churches, LOL! But here, you managed to catch something different. Firstly, it is in B&W, then, it is presented in vertical form, the praying figure is away from the candles, and sitting, and there is a great use of creative, hollow bokeh, which creates a strikingly original result.
