Koe-Thaung sunrise Photo

Photographer’s Note

The Koe-Thaung, or Pagoda of 90000 Buddhas, is the largest one in Mrauk-U. The site is on flat marshy land, surrounded by paddy fields, and northeast of the place in the centre of the Mrauk-U. Tradition has it that the Koe-Thaung was struck by lighting because the king attempted to build a pagoda of 90,000 images to out do his father's Shite-Thaung Shrine of 80,000 images.

Excactly as I remeber it.Nice and typical misty atmosphere for this place and good composition with this row of stupas.The sunset colors are great,too.
Isn`t Mrauk U a wonderful and unique place?.

A magical place what stands high on my list.
You captured a great mood during sunrise and it shows that waking up ealry always pays off in going that early. Nice perspective you found here, but it's the light in the sky what does the trick here...very nice.

I have to go to Myanmar one day. These sort of shots make it look very magical. Nice work at getting all the details in this challenging sort of shot into the sun! And good eye for composing it all. The end result is very effective in conveying the mood of the place. Nice work, Cheers,

I have been several times in Sittwe but never had the opportunity to go to Mrauk-U. I really missed that.
The light and POV are extraordinary in your shot. And the misty background is wonderful too. Well done.

Pas facile à réaliser celle là! Le coucher de soleil sur les montagnes a de superbes couleurs. Les silhouettes en premier plan contrastent bien mais ne se détachent peut-être pas assez sur le ciel pour être clairement identifiées?

De tres beaux details visibles dans les basses lumieres, j'en aurais bien vu un peu plus sur le bas de l'image, superbe endroit et sans doute un bien beau moment ce matin la.

A very atmospheric picture, really an icon of far and misterious Orient. The row of pagodas assures a good sense of depth and perspective and create a fine contrast with the setting sun. Sweet and intense at the same time, a true magic place.

Sure looks like Myanmar - the mountains and mist are nicely captured. THe temple tops we can see in the foreground, while quite dark, add to the sense of location and magical atmosphere.

la légère brume et les magnifiques teintes du ciel donnent une atmosphère que j'aime beaucoup,un peu magique,où le contraste entre la luminosité du ciel et l'obscurité du paysage fait un merveilleux contraste!J'aime les monyagnes qui apparaissent à l'horizon en un très beau dégradé de gris,et la perspective sur les stupas qui donnent une impression de grande profondeur!Superbe!

Hello Vincent,

L'avant plan est peut-être un peu envahissant mais c'était une bonne solution pour le faire ressortir véritablement. Je dois dire que l'arrière plan me fascine bien plus avec ces splendides nuances de lumière et de brumes. C'est un décor et une heure rêvée pour faire de la photographie. Tu ne t'y es pas trompé.

I have seen this variations of this scenery on TE and it is also on my wish list. A sunset or sunrise will be something worth going for here.

It is not easy to get this condition but you have done well to get the mood of the sun at this hour.
