Photographer’s Note

Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Buddha's Tooth) is a well-known, often-photographed and seen many times. A popular place for pilgrims and tourists alike. Not necessary to write much about it as others have done so already.

But what compelled me here, was the late afternoon light: it was cloudy, the rain (shower) has already started (the ground is wet, obviously), but on the western horizon there was still a small opening in the clouds through which some sun-light was penetrating and giving magical soft light with reddish-orange colours. It was different than normal, the square was already nearly empty as the closing time of the temple was approaching... a special time, indeed, that I tried to convey in the photo.
