Photographer’s Note
Through the gate, across the open forecourt that was lashed by rain earlier in the day, and straight ahead, is the repository of the Guru Granth Sahib. Shoes should be removed, the head covered, and hands washed. Approaching, one should bow down and touch the floor as a sign of respect. All persons, regardless of status, sit on the floor, below the level of the Guru Granth Sahib. Men and women sit on separate sides of the room.
