Photographer’s Note
Below you´ll find the note I wrote when I uploaded the first image. Pour
Frederic.
The amazonian region is sunny, rainy and definitely hot and, of course, colorful.
Tonite, however, my intention is to share with you the image of this couple performing the "amazonic lundu" at the hotel in Salvaterra, one of the two main cities in the island of Marajó.
The "lundu" is a dance with african origins brought to Brasil by the slaves (Brasil is not only the land of samba!). It´s so sensual the Vatican forbid it to be performed in Brasil in the 18th C, but you know, laws are there to be ignored and the dance continued to be performed, nowadays mainly in the island.
The plot in the song consists in the man inviting the woman to a sexual encounter. The woman resists at first but teases the man and finishes by accepting the invitation.
Here, as you can see, the couple is about to end the performance.
***
The photo is located as "Marajo", but this is not exact. In the delta of the Amazon river, Marajo is the biggest island. It´s bigger than Holland and it has some huge cities in the southwest part of the island, like Salvaterra and Soure. Soure is the closest city to Belém, the capital of Para, something around 3 hours by boat, in a lovely trip.
Thanks a lot for your comments. I am aware some just don´t like grains added like i did here. I respect.
Greens are not mandatory.

Well, you got my greens too. Grains can enhance the artistic value, if used judiciously. And they are perfectly chosen here, imo. Very expressive, intense image of this ritual. Bravo Isabelle!

É curioso. Comportamentos e costumes causam polêmica e curiosidade.
É gente, é "people", é válido, Isabel.

Amicalement.
Daniel.

The grain provides value-added here, no doubt, but most of all I like the light, and the sensual compo esp. the position and dynamics of their legs, and the way he holds her... a photo with a rhythm... :)))

hi Isabel
As a young boy, I would be forbidden to look at this photo. I was even forbidden to touch or play with poker game cards. Although my mum is not a catholic.
I think this is very sensual [I am old enough to say and use this word now :)]. The iso1600 is probably well applied to give this much grain and the slow shutter this VERY BLUR, so that I could not see very sharp image [that I would not be supposed to see, even if old enough, my mum will still say].
About LUNDU, we have a seaside town here in Sarawak called exactly this name. And that was the place where I shot one of my 1st TE posts.
[I think my mum will disallow me to rate this too.]

Mataria o momento e voce somente veria o homem agarrando a mulher.

The grain and the blur is okay in a scene like this. You managed to freeze a moment that is really steaming. B&W obviaously suits this.

Hi Isabel
I saw this picture yesterday, but I had no more green smileys, so I waited......until today. Here I am.
I like it very much due to the theme (eternal theme: a man and a woman, what can happen??), the blurred effect and the grain. We feel it was hot!
Well done, it gives the idea to go and visit this place (it's an aim of TE!!!)
Kind regards
CLODO
