This little bench on Othrys mountain seems to be ignoring the view down to Pagassitikos Gulf and Pelio mt in the bg.

"Mount Othrys (Greek: Όρος Όθρυς, Oros-, other transliteration: Othris) is a mountain in Central Greece in the northeastern part of Fthiotis and southern part of Magnesia. The mountaintop is at the prefectural and the regional border at 1,728 m. Much of the area is unpopulated in the northern part and the southwestern part. Anavra is the exception making it one of the few communities in southwestern Magnesia. The length from west to east is about 15 to 20 km and the width from north to south is about 10 to 15 km. It is located NE of Lamia, SE of Domokos and SSW of the Volos area. Much of the mountain is rocky. Forests are also in the mountain range and surround the mountain. The main source of rock is ophiolite. The local name is Mount Goura.

The panorama includes the southwestern part of Magnesia and parts of the southeastern part of Magnesia along with the southern part of the prefecture of Larissa, northeastern, central, northwestern and most of Fthiotis and the northwestern part of the island of Euboea. The roads surround the southern part of the mountain range. The central and northern part of the mountain does not have many roads. The entire area is also a parkland. The mountain has a few mountaintops. The mountain also includes valleys and streams. The area lower than 1,000 m has forests and much of the area is forested. The municipal boundary of Stylida and several municipalities and a communal boundary with Anavra are in the mountain range".

"Το όρος Όθρυς βρίσκεται στη νοτιοδυτική πλευρά του Νομού Μαγνησίας και στην βορειοανατολική πλευρά του Νομού Φθιώτιδας και οριοθετεί τη Θεσσαλία και τη βόρεια Στερεά Ελλάδα. Η ψηλότερη κορυφή είναι το Γερακοβούνι με υψόμετρο 1726 μέτρα, ενώ οι χαράδρες συχνά ξεπερνούν τα 1.300μ. Η ανατολική πλευρά του βουνού βλέπει τον [[Παγασητικός κόλπος Παγασητικό κόλπο]], ενώ η δυτική τον Μαλιακό.

Έχει δάση βελανιδιάς, δρυός και Ελάτης κυρίως Κεφαλληνιακής αλλά και υβριδογενούς . Ένα από τα προβλήματα της περιοχής είναι η υπερβόσκηση καθώς και παλιότερα η υλοτομία[1] της Ελάτης που τα τελευταία χρόνια έχει περιοριστεί.

Αποτελεί καταφύγιο θηραμάτων και παρατηρείται πυκνή βλάστηση: το πλούσιο φυσικό περιβάλλον έχει αναδείξει το βουνό τα τελευταία χρόνια ως προορισμό οικοτουριαμού.

Ένα από τα γραφικότερα χωριά που βρίσκονται στους πρόποδες του όρους είναι η Παλαιοκερασιά καθώς και η Βρύναινα στη Μαγνησία (650μ), ενώ κοντά στο χωριό αυτό βρίσκονται τα μοναστήρια Κάτω και Άνω Παναγίας Ξενιάς.

Στην Ελληνική μυθολογία, το όρος Όθρυς είναι το βουνό των Τιτάνων, όπου είχαν οχυρωθεί κατά τη σύγκρουσή τους με τους θεούς του Ολύμπου και πετούσαν από εκεί γιγάντιους βράχους προς τον Όλυμπο".
