Photographer’s Note
Where all the things began...
Gdańsk Shipyard (Stocznia Gdańska) is a large Polish shipyard, located in the city of Gdańsk. The yard gained international fame when Solidarity (Solidarność) was founded there in September 1980. It is situated on the left side of Martwa Wisła and on Ostrów Island. The view is from the Polferries Terminal in Nowy Port.
What's more...
We're going to the concert there on the 4th of June to celebrate the anniversary of the 1989.
And something more according to Wikipedia:
Over 60 years, Stocznia Gdańska has delivered more than 1000 seagoing ships to owners all over the world. In recent years, the top deliveries have been container ships, reefers, bulk carriers and passenger ro-ro ferries. Most ships are designed in their own design office. Gdansk shipyards have fallen on hard times. Once a place of work for over 20,000 people, the Gdansk shipyards provide only 3,000 jobs today. Design and construction of ships has remained the main activity of the yard. Work for the offshore industry began in the 21st century.
Remontowa S.A. owns 7 floating docks which can accommodate vessels up to 290m in length and approximately 135 000 dwt. Gdańska Stocznia is the leader of the Remontowa group, which also includes Northern Shipyard and smaller companies. Remontowa SA is one of the largest companies in Poland and was listed in the top three largest ship repair yards in Europe and the top five in the world by specialist magazine Drydock.

Hello Gosia,
A good composition of the shipyard, which was the seat of the birth of democracy in Poland. The cranes provide additional graphical interest. Good use of the panoramic format. Interesting accompanying note.

Moga sie podobac takie ogromne dzwigi, przy ktorych nawet ten ogromny statek wydaje sie byc niezbyt duzy.

Hi Gosia,
Very effective photo from this industrial zone. The lights were superb to taking a photo, emphasized the characteristic details of the sight. The horizontal composition is spectacular likewise. Superb photo from the "city's other face". Have a nice day!

Hi Gosia,
an outstanding picture of this shipyard with large big cranes and beautiful reflections on the quiet water. The sky seems to nearly go smoothly into the water.
Cheers,
Edi

Ech..... Fajny POV.
Pozdrawiam

Hi Gosia!
Beautiful and very interesting photo! I remember when I was a kid or a teenager, images in the news, with the huge strikes in shipyards of Gdansk, the Solidarity, Leh Valesa and Voicek Jaruzelski, so it's great to see a photo from that specific place! Great compositin and framing, flawless light managment! Congratulations!
