Photographer’s Note
As i stood there at this window - i realise that this is indeed a "Window of the Past", more than 1,000 years old ! This window is part of the Angkor Thom temple (900+ AD) in Cambodia and the intricate cravings on the walls represent Apsaras - celestial dancers. Beautiful women of the past ... The Angkor Wat and other temples such as this one around the same area is magnificent in her history, huge and ancient, full of mystery and history. i never knew the size of Cambodia in ancient times until i visited this place!
The temples here are as big as some of those in China and for a country of 14 million, these structures are indeed big in comparison with China's temples and her population!

Hi Tan,
Great shot of the architectural details. The well framed couple there makes the photo much more interesting. Nice soft colors. Regards. Latiff.

hi Tan,
In your intro you ask for honest critiques, well, here is mine:
Being Angkor such wonderful place, whit many POV and light opportunities, why you choose this frame. in you note you do not justify the two humans... then, this becomes a snapshot of a family trip.
I disagree with Urs about teh sharpness. It is quitwe soft, especially on the humans' faces (which should be very sharp).
the rest of the photo is ok. But I suggest yuo leave "family" shots outside TE. You have a lot of potential to shoot fanatstic places, go out and capture them.
cheers

I must agree with Jorge here!
This is a portrait of two tourists more than anything else. Had your comment described the difference between ancient and modern cultures, I would have more than understood your choice of composition and content. But now, the wall around the couple looks like nothing more than a frame for their portrait. By including the couple, You have stolen the spotlight from the ancient carvings and rendered them mundane tourist attraction-style frames.
It has become one of those more-than-too-often-seen "I was there" holiday pictures and I believe has no real place on TE... unless, of course, your note was different :)
I hope You do not take offence!
All the best,
Julia
