Photographer’s Note
Old mud and brick homes - in stark contrast to the newer Chinese section of the city... more Central Asian than anything Han...

It was a long time ago that I did a comment on your pictures although I check them very often. I like this one very much. The attitude of this kid is so natural and the framing is perfect. beautiful ! Geraldine

Hello Caleb,
A very strong portrait : the intensity of the gaze, the different colour zones, the special composition,...
Utterly human.

Paul

hi caleb
Wow you must have archives of China travel photos lasting 3 years to post.
But I kinda like your portrait and location shots of China bringing very ethnic cultural flavor to them.
This boy is definitely not Han maybe more Mogul or Mongolian tendency. You really crop it tight, this boy has very little space or room to play :)
Good one.

Hello Caleb,
I think your images of the urban Uighurs of Xinjiang are the most appealing of your Chinese portraits. (I prefer your daily life images of eastern China.) I also like your penchant for doorway shots. This little boy looks a bit apprehensive and your tight cropping seems to communicate limited space and horizons.

Mary

strong colours and textures Caleb and well composed with the split frame again. I think I would have given him a little bit more room though.

Great portrait. I recognize the warm colors of Kashgar.
Hope to see it back again in September :-)))

The Scalerman touch again...the classic composition, the saturated colours, the ultratight crop and, above all, the look.
Great portrait of a little big man.
