Photographer’s Note

The best and most famous example of the early Italian Baroque style. Instead of standing on one edge, the palace is the centerpiece of the garden layout. It is theatrically set into a wooded hill and, like the other Frascati villas, casts an eye across the Campagnia to the dome of St Peters, Rome. Every aspect of the place is aristocratic. It was designed for a 'nephew' of a Pope – this is how the church described papal children until the twentieth century. Villa Aldobrandini occupies an imposing situation with a broad terrace dominating the town of Frascati. To the rear, there is a water theatre with niches for statues and fountains. A statue of Atlas holds a globe stands in the central niche. Behind the theatre, an avenue with a central water cascade pushes upwards into the oak and chestnut woods. There are garlanded Pillars of Hercules. Work on the garden began in 1598 and was finished in 1603. The waterworks were designed by Orazio Olivieri. The Villa was badly damaged during the Second World War and then rebuilt. Many of the statues have gone and some of the fountains, which used to soak unsuspecting visitors, are no longer working.

mi piace questo "frog-POV" che apre molto bene la visuale sull'architettura barocca.

il luogo é molto piacevole....e mi ricorda vagamente l'anfiteatro dell'Heremitage di Bayreuth (dove feci l'erasmus....)

The background theatre is really very beautiful but the picture foreground looks a bit too long. I would have cropped a good 2cm on bottom.

The lowest viewpoint, with the very foreground a bit blurred, was a great idea so we could start looking at this and go on with our eyes into the whole image that has so many interesting and beautiful architectural details! Sharpness, exposure, colors and symmetrical compositon are all excellent!

oggi ci porti questo classico scorcio frascatano. Non devo certo sottolineare che il punto di forza di quest'immagine è il pov con questi sampietrini dalle tonalità sfumate, un po' a fuoco e un po' no, che fanno da preludio al magnifico sfondo manierista. Un cartolina molto originale.

Ecco uno dei POV impossibili di Vinicio. Mi associo all'interpretazione di Luca. I sampietrini sfocati preludono alla successisva bella vista simmetrica e luminosa. Ciao.

Ma che luogo fascinoso! Sai che in qualche modo mi ricorda il meraviglioso Zwinger di Dresda? Mai stato a Dresda? Vaaaccciiii!! Non a caso viene chiamata la Firenze sull'Elba. E che bella questa tua foto, che colpaccio da maestro questo tuo approccio che parte randente al suolo con le pietre che paiono dorate, poi lilla e infine celesti. Grande Vinicio!

Apprezzo questo tuo esperimento, anche se avrei avuto la curiosità di vedere la versione a f/22. Una foto molto interessante che potrebbe favorire un dibattito. Il primo piano sfocato disturba o sottolinea lo sfondo?
Credimi, non ho una risposta, ma - tengo a precisarlo - apprezzo molto la tua proposta.

Ultimamente c'è un po' la mania di questi low pov che costruiscono quasi metà della scena sul pavimento, il risultato è di grande grafismo. Nella tua versione apprezzo molto l'ulteriore lavoro di postproduzione: la sfuocatura, la tonalità magenta e giallina creano un bel gioco di toni sul primo piano e questo può essere una bella idea; pensavo anche per una pavimentazione tipo opus sectile.... ho in programma Aquileia nei prossimi W/E se mi capita provo a metter in atto questa tecnica.
