Photographer’s Note

This is a photo of Nationalmuseum (with Grand Hotel in the background), taken from Skeppsholmsbron.

Everyone takes a photo of the museum from the opposite side or "full-face". I suggest a different perspective... at least I haven't seen such a photo here on TE. So I'm posting this one, after numerous hesitations.

In my opinion, this perspective view is one of the most difficult views for taking photos.

About this shot: originally, it has a strong blue tint because, for some crazy reason, it was taken with the camera settings "slide effect" which added this blue tint to the image! :(

Nationalmuseum is the national gallery of Sweden, located on the peninsula Blasieholmen in central Stockholm.

The museum exhibits an impressive art collection due to its benefactors, King Gustav III and Carl Gustaf Tessin. The museum was founded in 1792 as Konglig Museum ("Royal Museum"), but the present building was opened in 1866 from when the name Nationalmuseum was bestowed.

Ïðèâåò Åëåíà.
Çàøåë íà âàøó ãàëåðåþ.
Òÿíåò èíîãäà ïîñìîòðåòü ðàáîòû âñåõ ñ êåì óñïåë çàâåñòè çäåñü çíàêîìñòâà. Íî çàõîæó î÷åíü ðåäêî.ß ñìîòðþ ÷òî ñàéò îñêóäåë. Ìíîãèå óøëè ,õëîïíóâ äâåðüþ.

Hello Elena,
Yes, this is an unusual view, where the museum becomes a minor ingredient. The focus is on the foot-bridge, where the woman carrying the shopping-bags becomes quite important in spite of being so small.
Have you been to the Grand Hotel? It is really grand. I was there just an hour ago, interviewing a president in his suite!

Âñ¸, Åëåíà, âîò èìåííîñ ýòîé ôîòîãðàôèè ÿ îò÷åòëèâî ïîíÿë, ÷òî óñòàë è õî÷ó â äàëü. Õîòü êóäà, ëèøü áû òàì ãîâîðèëè íà èíîì ÿçûêå.

Hi Elena,
A very fine perspective and POV with this bridge in the foreground. I appreciate that you included a map reference here, I am not that familiar with Stockholm to recognize the environment. But I actually slept one night at that Grand Hotel, sometime round 1970. Of course the company paid and as it is a Swiss company they had, at least in those days, money to spend! But I can assure you, it was just the usual hotel stay, arrive late at night, sleep and leave early in the morning. Nothing more!

Hi Elena,
by your way of looking at this beautiful city and at the world you are presenting us very unusual impressions and that is something I appreciate very much. But here in this case it is also the comments you share with fellow trekearthians that makes this site an unique place, it is like being the member of a big kind of family.
I really was afraid that you also intended to leave TE but obviously you got used to the new layout. TFS!

dear Elena,
of course, it is only beginner's way to set the whole face of the object in the center of the composition.(there are lots of those shots...)
photography's goal is not to capture what the motive object be, but to express how it exists from original point of view.
about this your shot, I don't know it is the National museum or not.
my interest is the space made of the bridge and buildings,
and the contrast between the standing shape of buildings and the perspective lines of steel bridge.
the light from left side makes cubic shadows of all in that space, and blue vacant sky is simply on those all.
yes this peace and bore feeling in ordinary summer Stockholm, I can feel well in your shot.

The pov gives you excellent perspective and having the woman at the far end is good, but beyond here it's getting much too busy, not your fault just the city layout is that way

Hello Elena,

The shadow makes a fine pattern on the walkway!
The strong lines in the composition create a great feeling of depth, and the fine light on the buildings really makes the details stand out...
Another fine city scene from Stockholm!

A different "non-standard" POV and angle is often refreshing, also here. This angle gave a great perspective in your interesting composition. You have managed to correct the blue tint skilfully. I find the colours very natural and good. Excellent clarity and sharpness. TFS!
