Photographer’s Note

This in Geraardsbergen, as you can see, a peaceful little town 50 km west of Brussel.
Once a year it is the decisive stage in the Tour de Flandres/Ronde van Vlaanderen, a major cycling event when the 'muur' (WALL) van Geraardbergen must be climbed.
Over a terrible steep (22%) street of cobbles the cyclists are trying to stay on their bikes and as fast as they can.
20 km further on is the finish (after 270km totally)

My dear friends. I'm off to Croatia for a family holiday (and ofcourse my Camera comes along)
See you in 4 weeks.

une image très lumineuse et contrastée grace a ce ciel nuageux ,des scénes de rue ou celle ci parait bien calme pour que les gens se proménent au lieu, beau travail avec un bon choix de cadrage

Hi Gerrit,
I can claim to have a certain affinity to The Wall, in fact most of my life my friends never call me by my christian name, just "wall", as in "Hello Wall", luckily I'm a well balanced sort of a chap otherwise I would take it as a personal insult.
Anyway I digress, I like your photograph, it shows small town life in a very nice way, people sitting at outdoor cafe's, families with babies and very nice architecture, sort of picture perfect.
A very good quality image, very sharp, well composed and the way you have managed the light is excellent.
A good look at daily life.

Excellent summer street scene with lots of activity. The church is well positioned at the end of the street to provide an anchor as the lines of teh street leads us through the image

o título da foto me lembrou o bom álvum do Pink Floyd, mas achei a imagem um pouco escuro, talvez um pouco mais de brilho deixaria ela mais interessantes, mesmo assim ótimo trabalho.

Hello Gerrit,
A good framing which limits the shade and included a pleasant foreground, of good colors and a well formed sky, it is an image which is pleasant. The note makes discover an ignored aspect of cycling. Cheer.

You have solved well the difficult exposure in this capture, obtaining a good balance between the sunny areas and the areas in the shade.

This is a nicely composed shot with the street leading the eye through this bustling little town. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and detail. The shadowed right side of the shot provides excellent contrast for the scene.
