Photographer’s Note
Hatshepsut (1508-1458 BC) was the fifth pharaoh of the eighteenth dynasty of Ancient Egypt. She is generally regarded by Egyptologists as one of the most successful pharaohs, reigning longer than any other woman of an indigenous Egyptian dynasty.
Although poor records of her reign are documented in diverse ancient sources, Hatshepsut was described by early modern scholars as only having served as a co-regent from about 1479 to 1458 B.C., during years seven to twenty-one of the reign previously identified as that of Thutmose III.[5] Today it is generally recognized that Hatshepsut assumed the position of pharaoh and the length of her reign usually is given as twenty-two years, since she was assigned a reign of twenty-one years and nine months by the third-century B.C. historian, Manetho, who had access to many records that now are lost. Her death is known to have occurred in 1458 B.C., which implies that she became pharaoh circa 1479 B.C.
The Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut is situated beneath the cliffs at Deir el Bahari on the west bank of the Nile near the Valley of the Kings.
See the see the workshop for a classic view of the temple.

Hello Chris,
A beautiful site! The colour of the stones is wonderful and the sharpness of your shot allow us to see so many details!
Perhaps the light is a little bit harsh ?
Anyway, it is a very nice shot.
Regards,
Marianne

Another clean shot from an always crowded place.
Beautiful composition and great colors.
I would think that here actually some people in the distance could be useful as scale markers. I know how huge are the hills in the background but it is hard to imagine without a scale marker.
The clean shot is certainly prettier though.
Great work,
M
