Photographer’s Note
Looking down towards spa pool in spectacular Hancock gorge. The colours of the rock formation simply amaze you as the light shifts and patterns and colours emerge. It takes about 6 hours to negotiate in really wet weather, but as it was in november it takes about 4.5 at the lowest water levels. It's called the miracle mile because at the end you'll think it's a bloody miracle you survived. Not for the faint hearted, lots of skinned body parts and banged limbs but oh what a trip - you will never forget the Karijini.Located about 1000kms from Perth in the harsh Hamersley ranges between Tom Price and Mt Newman it's a travellers dream, lots of camp sites, few people and a zillion stars!!One of my favourite places on this earth.

John,
Very nice - an amazing variety of colour - and a photo which gives us some clues as to the nature of this place - whilst retaining an almost abstract quality.
Cheers

Hi John
quite a nice place
I like your compo and the contrast between the blue Water/rocks and the red tones on the cliffs. Also a pleasant light
I just regret that you did not use a DOF wide enough so as to have in focus both the dark water at the BG and the blue one in the FG
Best regards
Patrick

hi John,
indeed an amazing place - the shift from the red to the blue tones almost looks like a graduated filter effect!
I can imagine that being there one must be torn apart between absorbing this incredible beauty and trying to record it on camera.

Hi John
Beautiful vibrant tones .. they just leap off the screen .. I love how they move into the image .. tremendous textures as well .. I know it might be painful .. but I might consider cropping the bottom inch or so off this where the focus is not as crisp .. stunning place .. wonderfully captured. take care, John

Hi John,
That looks great, the colours of the rocks are truly amazing.
Nicely composed, although a bit more DOF would have helped get the foreground water into focus. I can't see what f-stop you used, but in situations like this particularly with such close foreground a higher number, say f10, would have been better.
Nonetheless, a wonderful image.
I'll bet it was good to go for a swim after the 4.5 hour trek.
Regards
Peter

You need a strong head for heights just to look at this! The colours are indeed incredible, as are the amazing textures. With the difficulties of getting there in one piece it's fantastic you were able to capture this at all!
