Photographer’s Note

“As a little brother all my life, I’ve looked up (quite literally) to my older brother, Charlie. He’s a tuba player. As a child, I thought that was the coolest thing. In a way, I still do. Charlie’s tuba still haunts me, even though it’s been a while since I’ve heard him play. I can’t hear certain pieces of the orchestral repertoire without humming the tuba part, since I heard Charlie practice it for hours on end. It’s not uncommon that I catch myself humming the tuba parts to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, The Planets, or other fun ditties. Doubtless being subjected to such things from my youth explains something of my personal boisterousness, which religious life has (I hope) tempered somewhat.
As Charlie’s little brother, it was appropriate that, when I got musical myself, I would play the euphonium, which is probably easiest explained as a “little tuba.”
My euphonium mostly collects dust, but Charlie “made it” in the musical world, and I’m glad for him...”

I love brass music, especially the one played on our regions (TR, GR, MK, SRB, BG et cetera)..

ah, the tuba-doobi-doobi-doo shot? :) like it a lot, the shining instrument looks very smug, goes well with the expression of the man, lol. good idea to go B&W, the colours would be distractive. I just wish that tree wasn't there, but that's the picky me :)

I love it that you went for a b/w treatment, indeed the colours would have been a distractive factor.

Ha sabır diye saat 6'yı beklediğim şu son 2-3 saat içinde fotoğrafın içime neşe kattı.
Galerinde yeniden böyle kareler görmek -hala senin tarzın olmasa bile- insanın içini rahatlatıyor, çıkmadık candan ümit kesilmez dedirtiyor adeta. :)
Hafif pembemsi/bakırımsı tonlar, gözlerdeki karanlık, yüzdeki ifade güzel yakalanmış. Bundan sonraki kare Beyoğlu'ndaki İskoç müzisyenler olabilir bence.

To be able to shoot such a shiny instrument in b&w, while tubist is grasping his lips, with nothing else ruining the scenery at the back you should really have a moment-minded photographic tune. I can even hold the energy in the air! If there were photo-gods, you'd probably be their prophet on earth.

Nowadays, We refer "its so obvious however no one else could see and shoot it" type clever excerpts from daily scenery as korkutbostanci type-photographing. When one of us catches a really good frame in the bazaar or fisherman, yells to the others : I've got it, got another lovely korkutbostanci-shot. :)
