Photographer’s Note
The Standard Company was incorporated in Bodie in 1877. They erected a twenty-two stamp mill, with a tramway with buckets of ore incessantly moving up and down the hill. The buckets hummed a song, "gold, gold, gold" and soon the song was heard around the West and the rush was on.
"They came from the nearby camp of Aurora, from Virginia City, which was now on the decline, from the Mother Lode, from the City by the Golden Gate, from all points of the compass, spurred on by the tales of fabulous riches to be found on the top of the world in the mining camp of Bodie."

Hello Ray,
great place, great photograph. I like your note too. The photograph seems to be falling right, I think it needs some more color and contrast. This is definitely a place to see for me, some day :)
Best regards,
Jarek
