Staubbach Falls Photo

Photographer’s Note

Staubbach Falls taken at 22:00 as the flood lights were starting to take effect. The Staubbach Falls is a waterfall of Switzerland, located just above Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Oberland. The waterfall drops about 300 meters (1000 ft) from a hanging valley that ends in overhanging cliffs above the Lütschine River.
The falls were featured on the Swiss 3-centime postage stamp of the 1930s.

Hi Asa,

The use ogf a tripod and an exposure speed of 1/2 of a seconds is giving a nice picture. The view from the bottom to the top of the falls is giving perspective to the composition. Well done, have a nice day.

I love waterfalls and to see these lit up at night must be a wonderful sight. The ½ second shutter speed is just right for the motion blur of the water. Excellent and unusual blue hour shot.

Magical light over this waterfall. The strong diagonals emphesizes the steep rock and the cascade of water. Must be a very special waterfall in Switzerland, if they put it on the stamps!

I see you are making a tour of Europe (quite an american habit...)

This image is an unusual and very suggestive one: a fall at blue hour! there is a fine chromatic contrast between the blue sky and the green grass and the proportions of the various areas are well balanced. I wonder if the tripod was not well steady: the grass seems a bit blurred. However surely an image well worth to be posted here.

Hi Asa,
I never knew that this fall is floodlit. The effect is stunnnig. Blue hour light goes harmonously with it. Shadows of those trees on the stone wall creates special 'miniature model' impression.

The typical photo of this place always is with the daylight.

Very nice evening picture. The combination of the blue sky and green grass make an excellent frame for the cliff, and the light (artificial, I suppose) is sufficent to catch the waterfall.
