Photographer’s Note
The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe (German: Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden Europas), also known as the Holocaust Memorial (German: Holocaust-Mahnmal), is a memorial in Berlin to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust, designed by architect Peter Eisenman and engineer Buro Happold. It consists of a 19,000 square meter (4.7 acre) site covered with 2,711 concrete slabs or "stelae", arranged in a grid pattern on a sloping field. The stelae are 2.38m (7.8') long, 0.95m (3' 1.5") wide and vary in height from 0.2 m to 4.8m (8" to 15'9"). According to Eisenman's project text, the stelae are designed to produce an uneasy, confusing atmosphere, and the whole sculpture aims to represent a supposedly ordered system that has lost touch with human reason. A 2005 copy of the Foundation for the Memorial's official English tourist pamphlet, however, states that the design represents a radical approach to the traditional concept of a memorial, partly because Eisenman did not use any symbolism. An attached underground "Place of Information" (German: Ort der Information) holds the names of all known Jewish Holocaust victims, obtained from the Israeli museum Yad Vashem.

Hello Teodora
I love the capture of the young child seemingly unaware of the importance of such a monument. But to the childs credit, they can bring in a better world starting with these little ones. Very nice image.

Teodora,
Very effective shot - and one of those occassions when technical "over-exposure" towards the top of the frame only serves to add additional impact to the photograph - as does the inclusion of the little girl. Impressive.

hi teodora,
You were there at the right moment to get this surprising scene, although the place is a disaster, the little girl with colorful dress brings a touch of joy in this historic place.

Beau cadrage de cet endroit déjà connu mettant en valeur les perspectives et le graphisme du lieu. La couleur "flashy" du vêtement de la petite fille est parfait !

hi teo,
here is a very impressive use of perspective and light. i especially like the overexposed part, it adds to the ethereal atmosphere. contrasting colors of the girl makes the compo even more attractive.

Hi Teodora,
I like your snapshot very much, from the symbolic point of view with the little kid showing hope and future, as well as from the photographic point of view for the great depth, the light, the graphism and again the colourful kid conveying all the attention... a great shot!
Kind regards

Hello Teodora,
This is an amazingly powerful photograph. The child in bright colored clothes, set in a drab and modern architectural setting, but with your eloquent note they comprise a very effective package.
Warm regards,

Hi Teodora,
Une super photo dans un lieu grave et marquant.
Ta photo me remémore une réalisée au Mont Saint Michel avec des colonnes et un super éclairage, tout comme la tienne, mais heureusement le lieu était moins grave.Le traitement est parfait.BRAVO!
