Photographer’s Note

One of the most familiar species is Agave americana, a native of tropical America. Common names include Century Plant, Maguey (in Mexico), or American Aloe (it is not, however, closely related to the genus Aloe). The name "Century Plant" refers to the long time the plant takes to flower, although the number of years before flowering occurs depends on the vigor of the individual, the richness of the soil and the climate; during these years the plant is storing in its fleshy leaves the nourishment required for the effort of flowering.

Bela fotografia bem composta com cores magnificas e bem saturadas. Árvores, um pouco inclinadas para a esquerda, dão dinamismo à paisagem. Excelente ponto de vista e enquadramento. WOW! Grandiosa captura del mágico momento de la puesta de sol en este paisaje de la costa. Los tonos naranja tan cálidos que iluminan el cielo son un precioso fondo para las siluetas oscuras del primer plano, con el que crean un espectacular contraste.

Un'altro capolavoro. Mi ricorda vagamente quei suggestivi tramonti giapponesi che ho visto in qualche dipinto orientale. L'inclinazione delle piante crea un eccellente diversivo dando movimento all'immagine. Colori piacevolmente saturati, danno energia come in una seduta di cromoterapia. Bravissimo, come sempre!

Un tramonto meraviglioso. Un'immagine strepitosa e...struggente. Perché ben sappiamo che l'agave fiorisce una sola volta nella sua esistenza.E poi muore. Per chi fiorisce? Perchè poi deve morire? Questo non lo sappiamo, vero? Ed é un mistero che mi intenerisce il cuore.

A me fa venire in mente il rosso di Sicilia, detto anche fuoco dell'Etna, un bellissimo colore tipico delle ceramiche artiginali prodotte nella zona di Taormina.

Hello Giorgio! Yes Agave, when we were little we brought home a tiny agave plant from our vacation and it grew so big over the years that it stood in the way forever in our flat (we even had to dust it) but my father was so proud and I mean it was new to travel for his generation that I guess it was very exotic to him and reminded him of a great vacation. So seeing this, it came to my mind and how much fun it was to explore the world through his eyes. He was (and still is) cooking zucchini when most Swiss still ate patatoes with salt and pepper :))) Beautiful picture this is, what a great great sky with all shades of red-orange. tramonto molto pittorico, grazie all'inserimento delle agave che oltre ad essere un buon elemento compositivo, la loro inclinazione danno anche molta dinamicità alla scena.
La resa cromatica è davvero eccellente.
Interessante la nota. Strano che non l'abbia votata nessuno.
Non sapevo che la Tequila si ricavasse dalla fermentazione di questa pianta.
