Manhattan - Northern View Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is the northern view of Manhattan, from the top of Empire State Building. I know it's a cliché photo, so the post-processing was to give it a new look, something different than what we usually see. You may consider some retouching in the sky since it was a cloudy and foggy day. Stitching of 8 shots (f/7.1, different exposures). A larger version is available. Hope you like this version.

Whatever I write about New York City or Empire State Building you would probably know already, so this is only for the view :)

Hi Carlos,

Heavy but clever post-processing, a cinematic view of Manhattan and its endless skyscrapers.

What I like most in your retouching and processing is the metallic feeling of it, so perfectly adapted to the Big Apple.

Impressive and renewed presentation of one of the best classic.

I will forgive you the post-processing because the result is a marvellous scene, clear and in greyish-brown tones with a well choosen patch of green blue left as a contrast.

Magnificent view of NYC ! The tones are beautiful.
Very nice stitchwork. Bit apocalyptic sky but works well with the photo, not to less or to much, just perfect.

A vista é de cartão postal, mas a imagem tem uma excelente qualidade, inimitável. Neste magnífico panorama você pegou Manhattan em toda a sua largura. A atmosfera aqui é dramática, a imagem é rica em detalhes e dá vontade de passar horas contemplando-a, para identificar algum prédio conhecido (já encontrei o da Crysler e o do Citybank).

Carlos, I'm really mad. you were NYC and didn't call me?! I'm seriously disappointed :(

but I thought it appropriate to comment on this photo today, as I listen to the reading of the names of those who died during WTC attact. even the mood in your photo feels somber and almost threatening (and yes, I like the pp).
