Photographer’s Note
The Meursault castle caves tour is a highlight of a wine trip to Burgundy. Such views with old barrels containing the most precious red nectar await the visitor at each corner and prepare him for the last room which is the degustation one. Very fine offer for tasting, and actually they expect you to buy something, but the wine there is rather overpriced, there is plenty of more reasonable offer around and you have paid for the tasted wine with the tour ticket already, so move on...

Bonjour Jean Yves,
I seem to be among the first to see this gem. The composition, light management and resolution are all superb. I wish the scale could be revealed somehow. Are the barrels approximately a meter in diameter, two meters? In any event, it is fabulous, and extremely tempting.
Warm regards,

I always wanted to work in wine production professionally. Now looking at your photograph -endless barrels under mysterious light-, I see that I could also take mysterious photos in a wine facility and I once more regret my recent work...
Perfect light management, graphism at its best and excellent POV for such a view...
Congrats JY!

Un p'tit verre pour moi, c'est pas de refus ! ;-)
Bonsoir Jean-Yves,

Salut JY, you really have been turning out some "corkers" lately (excuse the pun :) This is wonderful. I love the golden tones and that beautiful symmetry of the wine barrels. Excellent use of shutter speed, the 6 seconds was well-chosen. And your shot is amazingly straight for someone surrounded by all that alcohol too! I hope you had a good ole taste of that red nectar ;) Lisa

Hello J-Y.
Impeccable sharpness in your shot, plus a very good composition to begin with. The long lines of barrels make a great perspective and a pleasing diagonal in the 'portrait' orientation. Nice curves in the barrels and the arched ceiling. I like your title, too! I wonder if this is natural colour tones or a strong, rich sepia conversion. Anyway, it suits the subject perfectly.
Regards,
Andrew

appreciable shot for the good management of the light, but surely it's also appreciable for the pleasant graphic effect of the barrels that create an interesting diagonal. It is a pity not to feel the perfume of the wine cellar!

I'm not too fussy, & will drink both red & white wine. And from various countries, too, in addition to Australia (France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, CA USA, NZ etc). I haven't yet tried Chilean or South African wine. But I have tried Sth Korean red wine, which is so so. Good repetition of the vats here with excellent perspective & sharpness. Tfs. Bon weekend!

Bonjour, Jean Yves -
Vineyards in Napa Valley also hope that you'll buy wine when you taste it; that's the point of a tasting. But when you pay for a tasting - and more and more places here are charging for one - that should be sufficient.
Oh, yes - the photo. Great handling of low light, though I'm a bit surprised they allowed you to bring a tripod. Beautiful lineup of all the elements in a classic diagonal. Definitely a contribution to the Symmetry theme, too.
Best,
Dan

Hello Jean Yves,
The subject was obviously inspirational!
The pov, with the receding barrels, and the f/g triangle, drawing the eyes inward, was well chosen.
I love how the curve of the ceiling matches the curve of the barrels.
The warm, sepia colours are very attractive.
Have a good day,

Salut Sherlok (non, j'arrête!) donc salut Jean Yves,
