Photographer’s Note
Likeng is a beautiful old village in the Wuyuan region in the hills of northern Jiangxi. It is built along a small mountain brook. What you see in the picture, actually is the town's main street.
It has hundreds of ancient houses dating from the Ming and Qing dynasties, built in the typical Huizhou architectural tradition. This village features prominently in most lists of China's most beautiful villages.
These days there's not only a mountain creek running through it, but also quite a number of tour groups. It is worthwhile to spend the night in the village just to see how the town seems to relax and return to normal, once those groups have left.
---
note: In Wuyuan there are two villages with the same transcription Likeng, they are refered to as Da (Big) Likeng and Xiao (Small) Likeng. This picture was taken in Xiao Likeng, Da Likeng is more to the north, almost on the Anhui border.

Hoi Benny,

Groetjes,
Paul

Benny,
Nice contrast & curves again.
The subjects play their role in the frame without realizing it!
Well done.
Prem.

I envy your time spent in such a picturesque and ancient place. To see it so alive (and not a museum village) is heartwarming. I hope that China never loses these places as the young rush to the big cities. So much atmosphere and charm. Great POV which also catches the reflections. My compliment on this creation which deserves greater recognition. Klaudio.

Hello Benny
Very interesting write up. I would like to visit China one day. Your pictures are inspiring me to go there soon. Thanks for this interesting daily life shot. Hard to believe it's the towns main street though. It looks more like a side street. Technically sound photo. I like how natural it looks.
Have a great weekend,
Tosca
