Photographer’s Note

Another shot of Porteau Cove. At this time, an old trunk served as the base for the camera. Shutter speed was actually 1.3sec. I still think that was not the right moment for shooting. The sky was a bit dull and it was not as shiny as I would like it to be. But somehow the effect on the water compensated that. I spent some time relaxing and appreciating the view until everything became dark. Hope you like it!

Hi, Carlos,

I like the overall effect of this photo, for several reasons.
(1) With the slow shutter speed, the shimmering reflection off of the water surface creates an almost magical light.
(2) The soft orange color of sunset reflected off of the clouds in the sky reinforces the mystical feel of the image.
(3) The silhouettes of the hills appear with diminishing contrast creating an impressive sense of depth.

This is a pleasing composition, the foreground interest creates depth and I notice the vague diagonal!
I agree, the way light reflects off the water is attractive, the kind of shimmering effect that always attracts attention...

Superb and very impressive image with a nice harmony in the colors between the black and the oranje. The FG give a great depht to the image. Composition well ballanced too with the island well located in the image.

Quando a gente viaja não tem todo o tempo que necessita para fazer "aquela" foto. Você tem feito mágica aonde vai, é o que eu digo ao Hercules (Cretense): Você tem o dom de Midas. O mar tem uma superfície sedosa e um brilho suave, deixando ver o movimento das ondas nas suas delicadas nuances. As montanhas, do mais escuro para o mais claro, dão profundidade e beleza a esta linda composição. Quase escrevi um tratado, mas é porque realmente gosto.

parece até imagem de outro planeta aqui, gostei desse tom laranjado da água dos planos de montanhas ao fundo. Sempre vejo uam imagem desse tipo quando saio de casa, qualquer dia tento uma foto.

Although your picture is of beautiful orange color, it cannot be an illustration of our Orange Revolution (its 5th anniversary we celebrated earlier this week), because the scene is too peaceful and silent. Excellent composition and unbelievably nice colors!

This one is the genre and the standard I'm trying to reach these days (see forthcoming posts). I love those twilight seascapes with smooth sea and warm delicate colours in the sky.
Here we have that double sequence of mountain ranges in the bg which give a unique flavour to an already fine scenery. I think it's well done in spite of your concerns.
