Photographer’s Note

I took a little break from TE after the passing of my grandfather, but I wanted to share this picture taken the weekend before in Popham Beach State Park. this seagull taking flight felt like an appropriate hommage to a forest engineer who encouraged curiosity, discovery and travel for his children and grand-children.
Picture taken with the 250mm zoom (equiv. 400mm), recropped to take the most interesting center. The 1/2000th capture allows for a nice water spray of this beach unknown to most tourists but very appreciated by those who know it, including a fort dating from the war of 1812 and a small island accessible on foot at low tide.

Greetings Bruno,
My deepest sympathy and sincere condolence to your lost. It is one of a very difficult time in our lives losing someone. I have gone through such lost just a few short year ago of losing my mother. I see a little of her in my brothers and sister, and even myself. The memories of your grandfather will live on within you, and you will carry on some of his character and spirit.
This is a wonderful dedication, may his spirit be free like the bird taking flight into the wide open sky over the beautiful nature.
It's seem inappropriate to put a smiley face here, but I'm sure he would have want to see all of you to continue on smiling and happy.
Many hugs.

Hi Bruno!
You manaded the strong light well and you had a good timing to catch the bird in this pose.Good dynamism with the splashing water and great contrast wih the nice blue tones of the water.
A good dedication to your beloved grandfather.
I`m sure he would have loved this photo!

Bonjour Bruno

Ciao dear Bruno,
Fathers teach us how to live, grandparents teach wisdom. I'm sorry for the death of your grandfather. You wanted to dedicate a beautiful and meaningful picture, captured with an exposure time and focus very difficult. Getting a very good result means that you are really an excellent photographer. Congratulations for this beautiful shot!
Ciao, have a nice day!
