Photographer’s Note

The castle was built between 1350 and 1375. In 1534 Renswoude was recognised as a knight royal residence. In 1623 castle Borchwal already expire as Johan van Reede become the owner . This Calvinistic priest finds a church more important than the rebuilding, of his own castle. In the house, on its property where Protestant meetinings kept, the house become much too small. He gets authorisation to build its own church near the castle. This fine cupola church was taken in 1641 in use. Then late Johan van Reede demolishes in 1654 the old castle and build the new, current castle.
The castle park developed itself as from that time slowly in a baroque park, with a straight alley pattern. In 1682 Johan are succeeded by his third zoon, Frederik Adriaan. He was married with Maria Duyst van Voorhout. During the absence of her man she let dig now the Grand still existing canal, compared with the castle alley. Because of this big work, much unemployed persons could helped with the work. But it had been especially intended as a surprise for her man, They are Versailles lgarden overs in that time, so they build there own French garden. On 28 November 1985 there was a big fire on the castle. The fire made a damage of millions of guldens. All the next day, they started with setting up wharf and rebuild the damage. This was reached by the energy of the current owner, baron Taets van Amerongen. In the meantime the castle has been restored entirely. For groups the castle be visit.

This was not easy with this backlight, but even that I think the shot is very nice with a fine atmosphere. I hope you like it.

U speelt mooi met licht and schaduw partijen.
Het tegen licht is ietje moeilijker zoals u zelf schrijft, maar u krijgt wel de stralen voor in de plaats.
De weerspiegelingen zijn moor en zacht voor het kijken, samen met de kleuren van de bomen links.

Backlighting is indeed difficult to handle satisfactorily, and hiding the sun behind the tree has helped a lot. The flare is limited to straight lines which adds to the scene. The reflections are beautiful.

Optimal release that with the dark tonalities allows the glares to show themselves at best.

La lumière en face est quelque chose de dur à gérer mais ici tu t'en sors très bien. Cette photo fait un peu penser à quelque peinture de paysagistes anglais du XIIIème siècle. Du très beau travail avec les arbres et les reflets.

You have the great merit here to have found and chosen a very good pov: this castle is like an apparition out of a secluded place into the wood: at a distance and close at hand at the same time, like an enchanted castle built in the middle of fairy land. Beside this magnificient scenery two features hit the eye: the intriguing reflection and the sun peeping through the branches. What else may we want? (:-)

Another lesson from you in light management! Shot in backlight, the best part to me is the wonderful framing and the sheen on the leaves to the left. The reflections are wonderful, especially of the clouds and the sky. Fine masterly work!

From the thumbnail, I was attracted by the castle in it's circle of light and the reflection below: I opened it to the lovely surprise of autumn leaves shining like small golden coins in the darkness. A lovely work and an equally great note with its romantic story.

Of course it wasn`t easy but the fact that the highlights are blown-out and the shadows are plugged is your way to say: "That is not important; the castele and its reflection matters, they are the subject here". I totally agree to that.
As usual,the quality is beyond any critique, so I will not even try one.
