Photographer’s Note

These jars, once the vessels of Moche lords, were unearthed in the tombs of Sipan in northern Peru. These burial grounds, containing thousands of articles of jewelry, ornate masks, and ceramic pieces, are considered to be one of the most important archeological finds in decades due to their pristine preservation and large, undisturbed collection of ancient treasures. Excavation of the area is still under way and the trickle of travelers to this interesting and out of the way site are sometimes rewarded with informative demonstrations and rare glimpses of more recently unearthed items.

The jars pictured here were at the bottom of an excavated chamber. I positioned myself at the edge of the opening above the chamber to get the overhead POV and waited a short time for the sun to provide the perfect lighting.

Excellent !! I love !! And I'm really sincere.
According to the distance to which one looks at your photograph, it appears to us differently. It's really funny.
Your pov is, as usual, perfect and the result also ! A great shot of N&B forms and shadows.
Your photo deserves more comments and I'm very disappointed by TE sometimes. I hope you don't discourage. It's not easy to make known itself on TE. If you agree, I will add a link towards your gallery in my next notes.

Hi Brian.

I am currently shooting much more films than digital although I have very few posted here and your gallery is very appealing to have them registered on film. This is such a fine perspective managing light, shadow, texture and shapes. The grey tone is very well established releasing out a stunning image.

An author's photo, I should say. First class composition, fine and highly graphic. Good management of light and W&B. One of those photos where your eyes can stare and gaze for ages.

Thanks for your recent critique.
This is quite an excellent shot. Strong graphical and abstract elements with pattern of circles of the jars. the light is really wonderful here, allowing you really good contrast. The black and white is a good idea, it is classic and timeless, since there probably not much colors here anyway, it really forces us to focus on the shape and vallue of the image. Great clarity, good sharpness and a very good POV. Excellent works in your gallery, some of the shot brings me back to Peru and Ecaudor, my complements.
