Photographer’s Note

The national nature reserve of SOOS is located in the area of the West-Bohemia where is hundreds of geothermal and mineral springs, which gave rise, thanks to their curative properties, such known spa towns like Karlovy Vary "Charles's Spa". The unusual name SOOS is probably derived from the German word Satz, which means sediment. SOOS is an extensive peat- and mud-bog which derives a large number of mineral springs and carbon-dioxide spouts, in so-called mofetas, sometimes also called mud volcanoes. Area is recalling the primeval landscape of the tertiary geological age. The most interesting places You can visit through the nature trail.
