Photographer’s Note
This was taken on the roadside somewhere between Monument Valley and Moab. We were treated to some fabulous thunderstorms while in Utah and this looks like another one is starting. I thought of Ansel Adams when I was taking this image.
This weekend is our 32nd annual photographic seminar that my club puts on so forgive me if I do not reply as quickly as I have in the past. We hope to have well over 400 people in attendance this year. Some years we have had up to 600 many of whom return year after year. There are workshops, a special guest speaker, a trade show, a competition and many door prizes plus a chance to meet with fellow photographers. We are positive it is amongst the largest of this kind of gathering in Canada and all done by volunteers from the Abbotsford Photo Arts Club.

Hi Phil,
Very sharp image which works well in Black and White. It focuses the observer on form and texture. Did you use a red filter?

Very nice contrast between clouds and sky. B&W works for this image.

People...daily life is what my heart says..i love nature too..maybe a phase i am going through..this is the second in the day after coming back from office and i couldnt resist..
The convesrsion works very well..the textures on the rocks..the harsh..rough surface somewhat balanced by the puffy approach of cotton white...
The frame is actually screaming for an element in the foreground..was there any way you could use something in the foreground..an emptiness..
hey..i dont mind...

Hi Phil,
While I'm wild about color, I must admit that this is VERY Ansel Adams with the crisp sharpness in the shades of gray.
The photographic seminar sounds wonderful, maybe next year...

Hi Phil
I like your choice to display this in black and white.
Wonderful cloud formations,
and sharpness evidenced by the detail in the stone.
I'm working all this evening, so i can't attend the seminar in Abby.
Perhaps next time
Craig,
Thank you for the invite

Hi Phil,
Great contrasts and well defined details in this one -may not be Ansel Adams but a fine Black and White capture. Thanks for sharing this one and good luck at the big event. TFS. Gerald

There is definite presence in this image. The foreboding clouds warn of the impending storm. It's that simple. Thanks for sharing, TW
