Photographer’s Note

Okay, so that's not really the Bluenose. But it was taken from the deck of the Bluenose, so the title seemed appropriate.

I realized that I've only posted two pictures of Nova Scotia since my trip there over two years ago. Given what an incredible place it is, and given that we're planning on going again this next year, I thought this was appropriate.

There are dozens of sailboats in the harbor of Lunenburg, which at one time was the center of the schooner-building industry in Atlantic Canada and home to several hundred fishing vessels. Since the advent of trawlers, and continuing through the collapse of Canada's fishing stocks, Lunenburg's importance in Atlantic Canada has decreased significantly, but the town is still a major tourist attraction. It's also one of Nova Scotia's two World Heritage Sites.

Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. It was one of my favorites.
