Photographer’s Note
This photo is my first with my new camera! I went to one of my favourite spots to go for a walk, Cliff Park, which is located in a town called Maple Ridge (it's about an hours drive outside of Vancouver, BC). It's a 7 acre park with a spectacular water canyon and hiking trails. This shot came from a smaller creek bed but I thought it would be a great place for me to practice a time-elasped shot. I am pretty happy with it...What do you think? :)

whoa! Tosca, that's a huge step up from your previous shots! It's like all that time you had the knowledge and abilities, but you just did not have the camera!
I like the silky smooth effect of the long exposure and the vibrant colors. It's very relax, I like it.
I think you sharpened a bit too much to my taste. But seriously, that is excellent!

Hi Tosca
Certainly you best technical photo you've showed us so far.
This is a great practice for learning exposure and shutter speeds, getting used to manually adjusting the camera.
Excellent work, i'm sure your going to add alot more!
Photo is sharp, and soothing
Until next time

A lovely calm and serene composition. Perfect control over the exposure with the water seemingly like silk and the stones pin sharp. Very good light and colours. I like it a lot.

Hi Tosca
Well done indeed. The water has the silky smooth motion in comparison with the rocks and moss and is a treat to look at. It looks like you have been studying the art of photography and I would say it is paying off. I will have to look up Cliff Park and take a trip there sometime. Our club could also do a field trip there one day.
Cheers

Hi Tosca,
good choice for a new camera, i have to do it for myself too, and a very nice capture, indeed, like the frozen outlook of the water, due to the long exposure time..
great one, i like it a lot..

hello Tosca,
first of all, congratulations on the new camera, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun discovering what it can do and what you can achieve :)
back to the photo - the low point of view, tight framing and slow shutter speed work really well to create a compelling image, dreamy and moody, I certainly like it. and good eye finding just the right stones, they create a nice lead-in line from the lower right corner right up to the big moss-covered stone in the left half of the image.
keep up the good work :)
best,
Kristine

Congratulations Tosca,
Looks like you have found a good camera, at least from this shot it seem to proof its capability. I like the exposure that give the water cascade the smooth silky texture, yet the rest of the features are good in sharpness and clarity. Very refreshing image and beautiful composition. Thanks

Hi Tosca, this is a wonderful first effort with your new toy :) I love long exposures (as you've probably already worked out). The effect on the water is like silk and I like the tight cropping where nothing but the rocks and water are visible. The image is nice and sharp and the light is great - 6 seconds a good choice. Good job my friend, enjoy your week, Lisa

Hello Tosca (BTW- my favorite opera)
For a newbie to photography you nailed this image! The veiling of the water is perfect as are the tones and textures of the river rocks. Exposure and composition are spot on the money. This is really a keeper - you might want to print, matte, and frame this one. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

Hello Tosca. Nice time exposure and congratulations on posting your first Pentax posting. Of course the use of a tripod is essential when it comes to time exposure. The time elapse of 6 seconds does smooth the water out to a glassy like appearance. I would suggest for more creative shutter speeds between a half a second up to 2 seconds and then work your way up in stages. Each to their own of course but I do prefer the half second to a second shutter speed because it makes the water look more real instead of glassy appearance. Overall good exposure and nice arrangement of rocks in the frame for visual appeal.

This is a really well framed and exposed shot and the saturation is good too. perhaps, the shutter was open a little too long as there isn't much texture left in the water. Nonetheless, a great shot. Thanks for adding me, stay in touch and good luck, TW

Hi Tosca
This is a great shot of yours. The choice of shutter speed is definitely the best. Great clarity and very natural colours.
To change the subject you have an interesting name. Where I come from Tosca are traditionally called the people from the south of Albania (as opposed to the people from the north which are collectively named Ghegs. According to my amateurish research Tosca is a variation of the word Oak or Oakey a tree found in plenty in those parts. Anyway I thought you might be interested.
