Gurudongmar Lake re-visited, located at 17100ft in North Sikkim, India..for the ones who wish to take a peek..yeah i would recommend it:) - no, it just gives you an idea..an intro..nothing more..!!

The lake unveils its magic every 100 metres..the classic view and the phenomenon of Wild Winds blowing away truck...!! .

I'd like to dedicate this one to all you guys on TE..the nature lovers..people..architecture..daily life..people who shoot street..DM...art..pictorial...the list goes on AND to the person who introduced me to this site..thx Saheli !

An incredible experience..all the words exchanged..the photos we have shared..the learning we have had..the hours on TE..its not an outlet really..it has become a way of life..i gives a good dimension to what and who we really are and what we can do as far as P is concerned....an added perspective perspective..

I have helped myself get the good out of TE..am sure you all have..!!

To all you guys again..new and old..nature or otherwise..people or otherwise..active and dormant..who love the point system and don't....

[p.s - this lake is special to me..i was destined to see this corner of the world..against all odds of nature...making it here on the second attempt was risky no doubt but special too..]

I considered going to Sikkim when I was in Darj, but ruled it out because of the cold, snow & lack of hot showers. Nice to see what I missed. A spectacular alpine view, with nice reflections in the icy lake, & good sharpness. Tfs!

hello Sayeed,
congratulations :) I don't really care how long it took you to reach this number, I too kept posting, then deleting posts, so it took me a looong time as well, but I've always been interested to see what photos people use on such "milestone" occasions :) (and yes, my #100 was a desert scene). I remember your previous posts of this lake, and I remember your stories about trying to reach the place, so I'm not surprised you chose this shot to mark the "100" occasion.
I also quite like the somewhat unusual format, the emphasis on horizontal lines work nicely to convey a sense of wide open space, solitude may be, and certainly quiet, even though I have no idea if it actually was quiet :)

Congratulations for the 100th! They are the most painful to get, after it goes on by itself... :-P)

A strange landscape, like halfway between two seasons.

You need to work harder on your composition Sayeed, as there is not a strong focal point in your image. If it's the snow covered mountain, than it's too far apart, lost in the surrounding landscape and with too many space for a foreground that lacks interest.

If it's the lake than it appears only as a patch of water, and we don't get a sense of it's importance, dimension or integration with the area. Even the reflection of the mountain is cut at the top. This is the kind of details you have to take care of to achieve a landscape photo with more impact and structure.

Just like the piece of wood that we can see in the lower right corner, not just the stick that gets in the middle of the frame, but the vertical pole as well. This is also the kind of details you have to pay attention at, to approach your photography with more care and discipline.

just a quick hello to congratulate you for 100 posts. I have not reached this yet after more than 3 years here :S
I like this post, but I really really like "Test of Time" and Strange Alchemy" which are deeper and much more artistic.
but a milestone is a milestone and it's worth highlighting how your photography and your critiques have changed since you started posting here.
André has some good advices here for you...sometimes we're in aww in front of a landscape and think it will make the picture all by itself and we forget to make it special by our composition skills...

Beautiful shot here, I do see the similarity ins landcape of norther India to Nepal and Tibet. the air is just so clear you the sun can really hurt you eyes and burn you skin if you're not use to it. Becasue of the cleaning air, clarity is always great here for distance landscape shot, very nice one here with great clarity and beautiful reflection on the lake. the foreground also give great depth. my belated congrats for your 100th post and thanks for the dedication, Sayeed :) I'm a lover of every kind of photography although I tend to apreciate more something with people. Landscapes as this one makes me excited...I just want to pack my backpack right now and fly there. Just a wish, because this is too high for me (5000m is my limit). Centrality works well here, beauty right in front of my eyes.
