Hello André,
What I like the most in this shot is the sharp focus on his eye as he looks up into the heavens it seems. I love all the detail of his character like the long grey whiskers of his beard and the paint on his forehead as well as the knitted detail on his hat. The tight cropping is perfect and really brings us up close and personal with this man. A great intimate and expressive portrait!

Thanks to post India's photo. You have covered the Sadhu perfectly in a interesting manner. Sadhus are the integral part of Hindu religion. Nice photo. Congrats.

Hello André,

Cet homme semble voir quelque chose que nous ne pouvons voir ! Son regard est plein de force est fixe l'insondable. Même si j'aurais volontiers vu les deux yeux dans la zone de netteté, j'aime beaucoup la profondeur de champ sélective qui met l'accent sur l'oeil de droite car il est illuminé de très belle façon.
Ce regard fait presque oublié les peintures sur son visage.
Un gros plan qui impressionne.

Bonjour André

Un portrait serré qui semble scruter l'âme de l'ancien, avec autant de détermination et d'intensité qu'il en a lui, à regarder au loin... les yeux vifs ressortent très bien, grâce à une belle acuité, et les couleurs des poudres rituelles sur son front suggèrent très éfficacement ce que tu as résumé en un mot par ton titre. Bravo.

Great close capture of faith in the eyes here, dof on the eyes, leaving the rest of the face slightly out of focus even. To me this pictures speaks of humanity, hope and warmth. Done with dignity.

The light trapped between those eyes..the dry ash and vermilion...the wrinkles..the lips parched..from reciting a million holy words...

A portrait that has history written all over his face, each wrinkle is a story of tear and laughter. There is hope for humanity in those sparkling eyes looking up to heaven. Such a compelling portrait.

Grand fou!! Tu nous pitch ce fabuleux portrait comme ça, sans rien d'autre qu'une phrase super profonde? Je ne suis pas toujours un fan de portrait aussi serré. J'aime contextualiser (même si c,est moins beau esthétiquement). Mais lui, son visage raconte des histoires. J'aime comment il ne regarde pas directement dans la lentille, ça le rend plus profond (même s'il se demande peut-être juste ce qu'il va manger ce soir...).

C'est un de mes portraits préférés (parmi les tiens) et c'est pas peu dire.

Je me suis acheté une lentille 50mm fixe 1.4...J'avais jamais joué avec un jouet aussi le fun!! Zoé est mon modèle préféré depuis un mois...

Bonjour, André. La première chose qui me frappe ici, c'est la netteté impressionnante au niveau de l'oeil droit et la PDC très réduite qui concentre le regard sur les yeux. Un regard d'une grande intensité. DE beaux contrastes aussi au niveau des couleurs. Une belle réussite.

Hello André,

This is a superb shot of the Indian. What you have done in this portrait, in distinction to the beautiful young woman you posted in the next photo is to place one eye of the man very close to he vertical centerline of the frame. It was discovered in 1998 by the British born psychologist practicing in San Francisco that in the greatest portraits created by the greatest painters — Leonardo, Rembrandt, etc. the centerline passes right through the one eye (it can be the left or right, and it can be the leading or trailing eye, it does not matter). It appears to be an intuitive technique that practice by the gifted artists, and not one that is formally taught. (I wrote about it in my two books on Leonardo.)

Superbe portrait en gros plan, focalisé sur les yeux plissés (faible profondeur de champ) et qui laisse a penser que cet homme est entrain de prier. Les peintures sur son front rappellent les couleurs de son couvrechef.

L'inde meilleur pays pour les scènes de la vie quotidienne et les portraits.
Intéressant sujet parfaitement cadré serré. Juste un pt'it peu de PDC en plus sous la barbe si j'ose le dire :)
