Photographer’s Note

In the Indian subcontinent, it is generally agreed that the Bronze Age arrived circa 3300BCE. The Indus-Saraswati civilization developed techniques to exploit the use of metals - copper, bronze, tin and lead. It was some 1500 years later that it succeeded in moving from the Bronze into the Iron Age.

In this particular piece, the artist has combined the facility of wheels with animal power. Beautifully burnished, it glows under the lights of the Harappa Gallery, in New Delhi's National Museum.
