Dead Horse Point State Park Photo

Photographer’s Note

We took a quick visit to Dead Horse Point State Park while on the way to Canyonlands and a storm had just passed through. The air was so charged from the lightning that the hair on people's head was standing up. Of course being one of those people whose hair had disappeared some years ago I couldn't understand what all the fuss was about.
This canyon was carved out by the Colorado River much like the Grand Canyon providing many photographic opportunities.

I really enjoyed a visit here as well a couple of years ago - a very cold and extremely windy day it was! Nice light on this one and the depth and clarity is superb. TFS. Gerald

Morning Phil

First off, i have to say your photographers note made me laugh, very funny indeed!

As for the photo, i agree with Gerald in that the depth is excellent, even with the storm-cloud darkness created.
The strata lines are very easily seen, so a job well done.
I also like the progression of colour...the desert sand has less and less rust colour as you look at the photo from bottom to top.

Hi Phil,
I will shortly join you with shots from similar places.
Unfortunately the days in November are very short and I was not able to see as much as I intended. I was for example not able to see Dead Horse Point even if I spent a night in Moab. I had to choose and I have chosen more time in Arches and Canyonlands...
This shot makes me to regret it a little.
The sharpness is fantastic and the light makes it incredibly interesting. I like the contrast of the foreground fragment with the much darker background.
