Photographer's Note

The oak is an oak tree Allouville located in the center of the village Allouville-Bellefosse in Caux, Seine-Maritime. His exact age is not known, estimated in the nineteenth century older than 800 years, an estimate later attributed to him in 1 200. He is reputed to be the oldest oak in France and is classified a historical monument since 1932. Its height is 18 m and its circumference reaches 15 m to 1 m above the ground [1]. Located near the steeple of the village church, it houses within two tiny chapels and attracts each year some 30 000 to 40 000 visitors.
