When he gets sick from a local village ćuprijskog Senja, not at any price to go to the clinic or hospital. It is enough to skip the plot and the neighborhood he came with no instructions on the examination and waiting. For the 25 inhabitants of the village there is one doctor, and almost no home in which someone is employed in health care with higher or secondary education.
Probably nowhere in the world there is no such concentration of health workers who live or were born in a village. Senj therefore have a privileged status, because they are waiting for their neighbors to see the doctor order. Senje but does not skimp in other higher education disciplines. From 300 homes in the village emerged more than 150 college-educated people, including most physicians, more than 40
- Split the village doctor. Middle of the last century from Senj hosts begin to send their children to high schools and universities, mostly in medical and military schools - said Mr. Jovan Antic, also a doctor and a living encyclopedia of life in Senje.
Centuries old tradition of health care in Senje, said Mr. al Antic, dates of arrival sinajita Sisoje who was called Prince Lazar Hrebeljanović formed Asylum for the treatment of the then noble families in the vicinity of the monastery Ravanica. There she worked monastic schools, and the 19th century formed the primary school.
- The owner of the Senju traditionally cultivated the education of children. Competitive spirit to achieving the highest possible level of knowledge and skills among families, it is developed. Status of university-educated man in Senj is very appreciated, and this aroused the interest of children to progress in this respect - said prof. Ljubomir Marić, the doctor and the former mayor.
Coal Mine for Senjan was a revelation, as many villagers, besides working in the mine, learn foreign languages, French, German, Russian and English, and their indispensable importance of education belongs to the monastery Ravanica in the immediate vicinity of the village is located.
- It has been rightly called Senje village doctors and intellectuals in general. First Senjanin who started the medicine and was the forerunner for the rest of us is Dr. Lana Todorovic. He had close contact with the countryside, it is separated from the inhabitants, and above all was a good man and great doctor. Maybe some objects that occupy the most important functions in the city, but it is a natural state and it is normal to have impact on the local level. The villagers do not hesitate to call us and ask for advice or in some other areas. They proudly claim that we know, and we respect them, yet we meet and pay him back for so long to Senj - says Dr. Svetlana Miljkovic, psychiatrist and director of the High Medical School pupil.
