Photographer’s Note

This image was shot in the fort of Jaisalmer. Its a living fort, an ancient city still very much preserving its culture and way of life. The clusters of houses within the fort are almost as they were 500 years ago. And the old woman photographed here has lived in the city almost since the beginning of time, it seems. I think the scene, the stone pathways, domesticated animals and the woman's content expression depict what I felt about the place: a pure contentment from life, its ways and a belief in continuity--a oneness with life.

Personally I liked the diagonal evening light exaggerating the folds of the skin and the texture on the white wall. Long shadows also make the scene interesting.

a different kind of shot from India. I like your angle and thought. Reflection of sunlight on the house is beautiful . A good daily life shot.

Well, i love the compo...and the caracters. All of the houses seem to have razor edges..i really love it.

very good shot. the light on the woman's face and house is very soft, it's a golden ligt like the city of jaisalmer.
I did go there, and I found the architecture very beautiful , but the touts were annoying.
i like the peaceful cows on the right.
very good atmosphere on that image. thank you.
