This picture has been taken during a daily bike trip, this image caught my attention through the calm of water and the lovely reflections.

The History of Hoeke 1252, now a picturesque village, truly a wonderful area for bikers and walkers along this Napoleon canal, during summer time always cool through the North Sea wind on 6 km, during the winter a wonderful rural landscape with old farms.
The earliest mention of the village dates from 1252 Hoeke. In 2002 it was 750 years ago so. In shipping regulations, promulgated by Countess Margaret of Constantinople and her son Guy of Dampierre, Hoeke is listed as toll stations, and a hidden safe harbor during the winter. The place in this period an important port where goods such as cotton, textiles, grains, spices, wood and material for shipbuilding, such as masts, sails and ropes are traded. There was also a corn and fish market. As a port was Hoeke a tidal port. It has had no embankments, but there certainly were wooden structures or docks where high water ascended ships could moor, and some took shelter at low tide. In the 14th century rises Guy of Dampierre (1279-1304) Hoeke free city in which to bear arms is assigned. This shield consists of a red shield with three silver crescents lying, which in 1594under Philip II assume a golden color when Hoeke united with the now vanished town of monks and other known Reason for port Damme.

I wish every visitor an agreeable visit, enjoy of the quiet scene.
John
