Photographer’s Note
This is a close-up of the Qutub Minar, a historical monument in Delhi. The minar, an islamic pillar of faith, was erected by Qutubuddin Aibak, the first Islamic General to conquer Delhi from the Ruling Hindu monarch Prithviraj Chauhan in 1128 a.d. This pillar was a symbol supposed to depict the might of Islam.
The minar was constructed out of salvaged material from demolished temples which adorned the fort where the Minar is located today. The artisans who built it were the same or from the same families who had originally made the temples.
This close-up shows the intricate detailing typical of Indian carved temples and brings out the beauty and intricacy of detail. It is amzing how a set of artisans and architects who had no knowledge of making high-rise structures could come up with this unique design and that this minar could withstand centuries of onslaught and hundreds of earthquakes to still remain erect and proud.
Technically the print was made in my make-shift home dark room. Sky was burned a bit to bring out the moon which was faded in the daylight.

Very nice shot Anil!!!...
The image is very deceiving... as soon as you spend a few seconds focusing and studying the details on this monument, you realize that this is a work of art... it must have taken a long period of time to construct a structure as this, and not to mention very skilled artisans and a team of engineers... just amazing...
Great choice for black and white, really brings out all of the beautiful detail... and the burned out sky gives the image some age... I also love your composition, it just leaves you wondering, what does the rest of the tower look like???...
Well done...

Very nice photo. I am glad this is black and white. The burnt ski makes the tower look like it is glowing with some weird energy.
Looks slightly ominous but beautifully intricate at the same time.
I agree with the last person that it leaves me wondering what the rest of the tower looks like!

Make-shift home darkroom, maybe, but the grain, symmetry, everthing here is classic. Soooo.. sharp...
