Church of Saint Lucia and Chapel of the Madonna della Porta - Montesanto - Sellano (PG)
The Madonna della Porta is a small chapel in the form of a loggia dating back to the 16th century, open on three sides, the fourth is leaning against the church of Santa Lucia, on the right, just after the castle gate.
The small stone building, of sober Renaissance taste, was erected to protect a fresco on the façade of the church of Santa Lucia, a Madonna with Child, which bears the fragmentary date MCCCLXX (XX ...) and is attributed to the Master of oratory of San Pietro a Spoleto (follower of the Maestro di Fossa active between the end of the fourteenth and the beginning of the fifteenth century). The whole is framed by the Angelucci da Mevale, with the addition of an Angel crowning the Virgin, above, almost completely lost God the Blessing Father, alongside is depicted Saint Lucia, the frescoes are dated MCCCCCX (X ..).
On the vault the Four Evangelists are frescoed, the emblem of Montesanto appears several times; the work of the first half of the sixteenth century is also attributable to the workshop of the Angelucci da Mevale.
The church of Santa Lucia, on which the chapel rests, is a small fourteenth-century building, the interior with a single nave with cross vault is completely bare of furnishings, there is a single altar, probably coeval to the outer chapel, remains traces of fresh decoration.
