Photographer’s Note

Depuis le monastère de Debré Damo, un site accessible qu'aux hommes. A escalader par une corde contre une falaise d'une bonne quarantaine de mètres environ. La corde est ancienne, fabriquée de lanières de cuir tressées. La confiance et la prière aident beaucoup dans ces cas là. Au fond à gauche une chapelle polychrome et au loin de nouveau une de ces formes géologiques planes comme le lieu ou se trouve le monastère de Debré Damo. En face l'Erythrée, vous connaissez bien le résultat de la politique de l'après Roi des Rois. /jr

Un endroit spectaculaire et une note très intéressante. Les couleurs "rastas" de la maison se démarquent bien du paysage aride. Peut-être aurait-elle du jouir d'une place plus stratégique dans la composition...un point fort par exemple. Je me suis permis de faire un petit WS pour corriger quelques petits défauts de scan.

What a dramatic desert landscape, JR. The bold colors of the monastery build stands in a great contrast withe the plae colors of the desert. I like very much the placing of the building in the lower corner. I also like the shaded ground area at the bottom. Excellent POV and a very good shot.

Salut Jean. Un paysage impressionant bien mis en valeur par la profondeur de champ très accentuée. Le contratse entre l'aridité de la scène et le monastère très coloré est saisissant. Bien composé.

Bonjour JR,
Un très grand décor naturel avec cette photo. Un coin bien trop aride pour moi. Je préfère la grande bleu ;-))
Le WS de Miguel est opportun pour améliorer la netteté et éliminier les poussières.
Je m'aperçois ainsi que tu n'as pas encore dompté PS !

Le paysage est grandiose, mais le plus etonnant ici c'est la touche qu'y apporte ce monastere aux couleurs stupefiantes !

Bonjour JR. A nice photo of the impressive African scenery with a rich view across the vast landscape. Good blend of the earthy tones with the scarce vegetation. The colorful building at the bottom left provides a surprising contrast and is a good compositional counterpoint to the formation in the upper area of the frame. I think you got a useful WS on this one. Well captured.

Stunning shot. The colourful monastery is such a great contrast to the rest of the landscape. Nice composition as the monastery looks so small in this vast landscape.

The building and the landscape go well together. From the bright and colorful building to the sandy hues of the vast landscape we get a great focal point and feel to ove outward. But we always have the shelter of the building for the eyes to move back to. Lines in the landscape allow a fluid movement, like the wind, across the image and to the other flat topped outcropping. Maybe it could be cropped a little more at the top, down to the bird in the sky on the right side. This landscape is amazing, though, and made more interesting by the way you used the building. Well done.
