Photographer’s Note
Cashel at sunrise, taken from the far end of the main parking area, before the nearby B&B started cooking the latter B. It was the only 10 minute period of sunlight that day. Polarizer was removed because of the low light. Profession scan in a San Francisco lab, no saturation added, no crop, 80mm lens. Darken sky a little and sharpen foreground. There is a disturbing pattern in the background, kind of vertical dotted lines, this appears in every frame that lab scanned yesterday. I'm not sure if its their fault or something on all of the negatives, or airport x-ray damage. Has anyone seen this problem elsewhere? I will rescan a few at home to see if it's my fault, then complain to the lab, it cost a lot of money.

Wonderful shot Tan!
colors of the sunset are really magical.
the castel seems it is built ina gigantic gold rock!
also the contrast with that strange and strong sky is fantastic. i had a similar problem with an entire 36 picture.
all the block was damaged and all the picture had not so many vertical lines, but only 2 lines, orizontal, exactly in the midlle of the image.
it was a Kodak.
thanks, ciao

Hi Tan,
Your shot is excellent with fantastic sunset light and wonderful colours. The low angle creates excellent contarst (golden castle - dark dramatic sky) Very well done!!
About the vertical lines, I made a workshop in order to remove them.

Hi Tan,
The light is excellent on this one, I like the great contrast with the darker sky, the upwards perspective works very well too to detach the castle over the sky. Wait a minute, this is Ireland, I know you were in Spain and Italy, possibly Morocco too, how many countries did you visit in one month ?
Wish you a nice week end,

Hello Tan,
With my HP Scan I only pass to digital pictures that I have in photo paper that are a result of my old non digital camera. I think that the dot lines are a result of a airport x-ray damage. However, you have here a great picture with a excelent management of light, good colors and a very good sharpness.
Excelent enquadrement and perspective!
Congratulations.

Good evening Tan!
The early morning light makes this scenery very beautiful.Very good contrast between dark blue sky and a cashel. It is a good idea to wake up early. Very well seen and done.
Interesting note.

Ahhh, here I see a well known landmark..maybe the nicest photo I have ever seen of it..because this light is fantastic! When I was there everything was so grey, that I didn't put it up on TE. BTW..gorgeous wheather here this week end! I went to Northern Ireland and got sunburned and in Dublin people were swimming! (...in 10C° water..) lol
Cheers! Léonie

I love it when the sky is real moody and the subject is well lit by the sun. A fine picture

Sue the fcukers... This is an amazing photo, even with the vertical lines. I think it's the best of the photos you've posted and don't understand why it hasn't got more than 30 points (although I understand that 'points' isn't what this site is about). If I could give this photo a triple 3 smiley faces I would...
John's workshop is good and deals well with the vertical lines, but it loses some of the awesome impact of the contrast between the rich sunrise colour on the ancient stonework and the saturated and rain-pregnant stormclouds. Such a shame that your lab screwed it up - but a great photo that gets my vote in any case!

Hi Tan. Another good one that popped up in your randoms. The early morning light has provided fabulous contrast with the dark sky. John did a good job with Neat Image in the WS, but I hope you got your money back from the photo lab okay. Cheers . . . David
