Photographer’s Note
In 1392, Seoul (or Hanyang as it was then called) became the capital of Korea, Gyeongbokgung Palace was built for Korea's ruling family. Then king T'aejo was warned that the mountain across the river was exerting a fire influence on the palace grounds. This is the reason that two mythical beats, carved from stone, were placed outside the main gate, Gwanghwanum. Nevertheless, it was destroyed several times, both by Japanese invaders and by Korean serfs who wanted to destroy the records kept inside. It was always rebuilt, lastly so in 1969 when, however, former wooden structures were replaced by concrete.

Interesting colours and symmetry. Quite a beautiful photo. I actually think the black border you have added is a little too heavy and detracts rather than adds. Maybe half the thickness.

Paul is right. The design is very light and delicate, it calls for a delicate border. Otherwise its a great geometric composition and great color scheme.

Hi Huy, very nice geometry. Like your subject but I must agree with the other colleagues, the black border is too dominant in the picture. Maybee a little colour saturation would improve the image too as I have the impression that the light was rather hard when you took the picture. Nevertheless, a very nice picture.

Great colors. I like how you've composed it making use of the architecture. It really punches out strongly with the colors and the sweeping lines that cross the image on two angles. One moving left to right and the other front to back. Perhaps it could be a little more sharp just to give it a cleaner and more defined look. Nicely taken, though, giving it a modern look to this old architecture.

Hi Huy. What a neat shot! The close-in framing allows us to take in those details and colors. An interesting note too. Nice one Huy, thanks for sharing this beautiful place with us.

You have made a correct decision here by using the lens' widest angle of 18mm here. This alone deserves a big bravo, Dr. Tran.

Hi Huy - wonderful light conditions to get this amazing colour and detail on these not directly lit fixtures. When I visited this palace the weather was gray and dark.

Great piece of architecture. Its complexity as well colors are captivating! Very nice framing as it creates a dramatic feeling. It’s like looking to a ships bow right in front and under it!
