Photographer’s Note
Talacre Lighthouse - Point of Ayr, Denbighshire, North Wales.
The lighthouse at the Point of Ayr was built of stone in 1819. Designed by Robert Stevenson, it is 99 feet high with four floors and the flashing light has a range of 19 miles.
Today felt like the first day of summer to me - warm and sunny. On an impulse I left work early and headed off to my nearest beach. The sun was a litle shy, but I spent a wonderful afternoon here. The beach is huge, with soft golden sands... I walked the full length of the vast beach, following the low tide mark. I felt wonderfully peaceful and alone. On an impulse I took a swim in the shallow waters. To my amazement is was warm and refreshing. A large weight fell off my shoulders, winter was over, and I looked forward to MY summer with euphoric enthusiasm...
Note:
Yes, the lighthouse is leaning. It's sinking into the sands

David, I don't know if it's the new lens, the new camera or what (maybe summer?) but you are showing us inspired shots. Sharp clean detail and the perspective of the tidal zone narrowing to the horizon - great. The lighthouse is not leaning a little, is it?
Cheers

Hi David
Glad to hear it's summer finally, though this picture still appears grey. The lines of the sea lead the eye in to the scene. Nice colours and sharp definition though I would have preferred to see the lighthouse less central and maybe with a little more sky above, to allow it more visual breathing space. Regards, Susanna

Nice shot David, I like the panoramic way you have cropped the image. The sea curves nicely from the lower left, leading your eye up to the lighthouse and then on to the horizon.
It's a good job the water was warm, but I think the shot would have been worth it even if it wasn't.

This is an interesting image. I like the range of colour, and the textures keep your eyes entertained. Very nice.

Beautiful image! Wonderful lighting you've captured along the horizon. Did you stitch two photos or just take a large overview and crop? Either way, it looks really good!
Have you submitted this or any others to the BBC program online at www.bbc.co.uk/picture? This would go nicely in the collection of current photos they have there. A good representation of English coastline. If you haven't seen the program yet on Sunday evenings, it' worth watching!

Good low POV and the sky is full of subtle interesting colours - I like the sinking light house too :)

Good shot David
I like the way the waves lead you to the lighthouse and then the cloud formation seems to carry you beyond. I'm not sure you need so much sand on the left but on the whole well taken. Kath
