Photographer’s Note

MELONS, QUI VEUT MES BONS MELONS ? crie le maraîcher.
Quand on est réveillé à 9h00 du matin le samedi on a de quoi être fâché.
PAS DE MELON CETTE ANNEE. ILS SONT BEAUCOUP TROP BRUYANTS.

Alexandre Dumas qui appréciait les melons et en particulier ceux de Cavaillon demanda, en échange du don de la totalité de son œuvre publiée (près de 400 volumes) qu'il fit en 1864 à la bibliothèque de la ville, une rente viagère de 12 melons par an. Ce que le conseil municipal accepta et lui servit jusqu'à sa mort en 1870.

I like your pov. Some noise right side building in window area. Maybe too much PS on color and sparkening. Hard to see this sometimes depending on your monditor. I like the area and view

Hello David, my rennes twin:)

Good mood. Looks almost like selctively desaturated photo. The colors of the umbrellas stand out against the fog. Picture is well framed and scene well controlled by the pale buildings. The sky is a bit bright maybe.

Bonjour David,
J'ai enfin compris pourquoi, tu était si tôt sur le marché des lices, c'était indépendant de ta volonté ! Dans tous les cas, cela te permets de faire de très jolies photos.
Très jolie vue plongeante, sur l'ensemble du marché. Le flou donne une atmosphère à ton cliché. Bravo.

Nice take on the pro and cons of melons ;-) The hazy backdrops togetrjer with the noise works fine with the saturated colours of the stalls in the nicely deep capture. Nice work. Regards from Rotterdam, Bert.

12 melons par an pour 400 volumes, c'est pas cher payé... Le temps n'est pas au beau fixe mais j'aime bien les couleurs du marché qui contraste bien avec ce ciel gris et brumeux. Très bien vu!

J'aime l'effet ici, les couleurs des tentes sont très lumineuses. Comment as-tu créé cet effet ? Il fait un bon contraste avec le reste des couleurs grises de la ville et du ciel. Très bien fait! Joli composition aussi.

j'aime beaucoup cette compo pour plusieurs aspects, le cotoiement du moderne et de l'ancien, l'agitation qui y regne, accentuée par cette ambiance pluvieuse, ces couleurs agreables, ce PDV et ce cadrage ... je suis passé à Rennes, mais pas de marché, ... bien vu tu sors du cliché de cette place dont on ne montre que les colombages sur ta droite ( ici on ne les voit pas !)

Nice atmosphere. The color contrast between the colorful market and the city is very nice and shows well the spirit of these places. Those old buildings and the cathedral look like very nice subjects for other photos.

the red and blue of the market square is a good contrast with the cloudy sky and dark buildings! good daily life pic. regards Alex (i'm leaving in 10 hours..guess where...Brest!)
